Purple Kush Strain Origin
Purple Kush is a 100% indica. The strain traces its origin to West Coast of the United States of America- specifically, the City of Oakland, in California’s Bay area.
Despite this weed being a purely indica herb, it is a cross between Hindu Kush and Purple Afghani. It has a THC of 22% and low CBD and is a very sweet strain of cannabis. The pure indica roots of Purple Kush delivers a fragrance that resembles sweet grapes.
This strain is popular due to the pure bliss it can rain on an individual. It’s famous throughout California and is common in the music industry - especially reggae and hip-hop.
Growing Purple Kush Feminized Seeds
These are feminized seeds. Female plants, contrary to male plants, are the ones that actually produce weed. They start flowering when they receive less light per day, i.e. in the Fall or when you manipulate the light cycle indoors.

Purple Kush Plants & Their Preferred Climate
Purple Kush can thrive well indoors or outdoors provided all the condition necessary for its growth are kept constant. The plant is easy to moderate to grow; however, this weed does best outdoors. Due to its bitter leaves, it's fairly resistant to pests and parasites making it safe for outdoor growing; however, you will need to do some pruning to maintain a healthy airflow. The Screen for Green (SCROG) technique works best for this strain given the fact that this plant is bushy.
Purple Kush also does well in a hydroponic setup as this allows the plant to get the necessary nutrients for development. Keep it relatively cool though, as it requires moderate temperatures of between 65 and 75 Fahrenheit.

Experiencing The Purple Kush Strain
Because of its indica parents, Purple Kush is a master of relaxation. This marijuana strain provides a cerebral uplift and creates a warm euphoric high that at times may lead to sleep. It makes this strain ideal after a long day’s work.
Purple Kush is the perfect marijuana to induce sleep, but it also leads to happiness, leaving the user with fuzzy feelings going on inside. At the same time, Purple Kush increases the user’s appetite by instilling pangs of hunger alongside a state of euphoria.
Because the side effects of the purple Kush are kept to the minimum, this strain is the perfect choice for an everyday smoke. Some of the adverse effects may include feelings of dizziness which may result in headaches.
Another common adverse effect is an onslaught of paranoia especially when one consumes high doses of this strain. “Cottonmouth,” essentially a bad case of dry mouth, can also occur. This is caused by dehydration. Drinking plenty of liquids during and after consuming this weed will help combat this problem.
Another effect of dehydration is dry eyes, which at times may lead to itchy, red eyes. This side effect can also be avoided. Simply, drink lots of water while enjoying this smooth strain or use eye drops to help soothe the eyes.
Purple Kush Taste & Smell
This strain has many cousins that add to its potency. However, its aroma is very distinct from all of them. It comes with a pungent odor, well-known to savvy pot smokers. This bud is exceptionally fragrant and fills the air with a sweet, earthiness, mixed with a sweet fruity aroma. Prepare to enjoy the whiff of rich grapes, dipped in spices with the very first puff.
Purple Kush’s flavor has an earthiness that accompanies the taste of sandalwood. You’ll also detect a touch of sweet grapes hit your palette. This causes your mouth to experience a flavor sensation, unlike most others. Its flavor is naturally tangy and sweet, with a hint of berries and various other fruits.
Uses for Purple Kush
Purple Kush is very relaxing, and as a result, is a popular medical marijuana strain. It is often used to treat certain chronic diseases and complications. Patients have used Purple Kush to treat symptoms related to:
- Pain such as pain from back injuries, muscle tensions, etc.
- Lack of appetite
- Muscle spasms
One of the not-so-adverse side effects of this cannabis is its ability to cause the munchies. While this is a problem for some, it can benefit others. For instance, cancer patients suffering from chronic nausea and loss of appetite due to radiation and chemotherapy patients can regain their appetites by using this strain. They become hungry and eat a healthy meal, which helps them heal.
